EndNote Basics – an Interactive Q&A Workshop for Beginners via ZOOM Online
EndNote software allows you to create bibliographies the easy way, eliminating time-consuming formatting and typing.
The Q & A workshop is for new users of EndNote who wish to learn more about the software. This workshop is open to staff and postgraduate students. Our EndNote experts will answer your questions and cover EndNote basics including:
- Managing EndNote library
- Organising references and creating groups
- Transferring references from library databases to EndNote
- PDF handling & find full text
- Producing a bibliography or reading list
- Using the Cite While You Write function (in Word and EndNote)
- Answering your questions about using EndNote
Before the workshop, you will need to complete these tasks:
- Install EndNote software: to download the latest EndNote software (Windows or Macintosh) and view the instruction video, go to https://libguides.scu.edu.au/endnote/download
- Create and save a new EndNote library: go to https://libguides.scu.edu.au/c.php?g=900492&p=6727066 to learn how to create, save and back up an EndNote library.
- Familiarise yourself with entering references manually into EndNote: watch this short video on how to enter a reference manually https://libguides.scu.edu.au/endnote/manual.
- Familiarise yourself with exporting references from a database: exporting a few references from a database to your EndNote library, instructions and videos are here https://libguides.scu.edu.au/endnote/databases
- Download a referencing style: Download extra referencing styles here if you need to: https://libguides.scu.edu.au/endnote/styles

Prerequisites for the workshop:
- Basic computing skills, including file management and use of Microsoft Word.
- A good understanding of referencing and the referencing styles used in SCU http://www.scu.edu.au/library/index.php/14.
